December, 2010: Mr. Quedraogo, a rural Burkinian, who owns a farm close to Ouahigouya in the north of Burkina Faso, was granted a credit of 3.000.000 Francs CFA (approx. 4.500 EUR). The loan was subdivided into four rates and helped the recipient to build up his animal husbandry.
Amongst other things, the money allowed Mr. Quedraogo to fence his pasture and to buy a hay baling machine that allows him to expand his cattle breeding. The sustained success of his investments and measures is evident in repeated trade fair participations at which he won several awards for his cattle.
Overall, the loan enabled an improved living standard for Mr. Quedraogo, his family as well as his three employees. Additionally, the increased financial freedom allowed him to engage in entrepreneurial and proactive initiatives, such as building additional houses that he rents out.
