Summit 2002:
Creating Value in Challenging EnvironmentsSummit 2002: Creating Value in Challenging Environments

In 2001, the economy has been marked by a dramatic downturn – In 2002, recovery is still not in sight and the business landscape remains a challenging environment for business leaders. Investors have not yet regained confidence in stock markets and world trade is far from soaring. At the same time, the corporate world is hit by scandals that raise doubts regarding the adequacy of current corporate governance structures.

Amongst others, the following topics were discussed at the Annual Summit 2002:
  • Turnaround and recovery – Managing through the cycle: Shoot for low hanging fruits or conquer the perfect solution when restructuring? How important are investments into management resources?
  • Corporate governance and the crisis of top management compensation: Is stock compensation still a valid incentive model for the future? Are current accounting rules in line with corporate governance goals?
  • Integrated risk management – Coordinating risk and strategy: Are chances and risk still on the same coin? When does managerial risk appetite turn into ravenousness?
  • Brand equity – Steering business to greater value in challenging environments: Diversification or concentration – How should one invest in a brand portfolio? Increase or decrease investments in brand equity during economic downturns?
The conference took place September 12 to 14 in Rottach-Egern on the border of Lake Tegernsee, located in the southeast of Munich, Germany. Please find more detailed information in our program (PDF below).
